When it comes to mounting guns on boats, there’s a different set of issues and considerations. Gunners need a rear working circle of either 48 inches or 55 inches, depending on the size of the gun. And the larger the gun, the more locks and restraints safety regulations require for the mount.
Optimally, a rear gun should have a firing arc of 180 degrees for maximum effectiveness. However, maximum safety prevented that on many smaller boats.
Because of our history of solutions for naval forces, we were able to identify an existing need and create a system that improved effectiveness for the operator and, therefore, safety for the entire crew.
Our solution was a single swing arm system that adds another 14 inches of extension to the mount. With a single piece of equipment, the gunner has more operating space, sufficient rear working circle, and an increased arc of fire.
The SA9 also incorporates train limits and has the ability to lock in line with the gunwail fore or aft. At the end, a series of pentle adapters let the gunner adjust for height requirements. The system works with government-issued mounts like the MK97 and MK82, as well as proprietary mounts like the H24-9 or H60-9.
