Our history can be traced back to a company called RAMO, founded in 1977 by Pony Maples and Kay Horton. Pony and Kay were groundbreakers, as RAMO became the first company to manufacture M2HB .50 caliber machine guns since World War II.
After selling RAMO in 1984, they began focusing on the niche market for mounting solutions and started Military Systems Group. Sometimes starting out only with plans sketched on legal pads, Pony applied his deep knowledge of what weapons need in order to function optimally. This talent of his led us to become the first private-sector company to focus on production and integration of mounting solutions.
Though our first efforts focused on naval applications, the introduction of our first swing arm in 1998 led us into the vehicular market. Soon, Navy Seals and Marine Corps began using our solutions. When we developed our double-articulated swing arm design, we drew interest from U.S. Special Forces. From there, more branches of the U.S. Military, as well as our allies in many parts of the world, began incorporating our designs to help their soldiers use their weapons with optimum efficiency.
Though our sales and our staff have both grown exponentially over the last decade, we will always keep alive the entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the soldier’s safety that is Pony and Kay’s legacy. Now that we’ve entered a second generation of the family’s leadership under Lydia and William Horton, we work even harder to build upon their reputation, their vision, and their patriotic principles.
